MILLIONS!

There are millions of orphans in our world. That's millions of innocent children with no one committed to loving and teaching them as they grow. Far too many children aging out of their orphanages each year and expected to fend for themselves with no support and a great deal of stigma against their orphan status. There are many children with health issues who do not receive the medical care they need to survive or thrive. We believe that God, who offers to love and adopt each of us and meet our every need, longs for us to go and do the same. There are many hurting people in this world and many ways to help and we certainly don't expect that every person will pursue adoption. We do hope that more will.

News from some very tired people

Yesterday evening, after two insane days of running around getting paperwork done, we picked Lucy up from the orphanage.  She had some very mixed feelings, which is as it should be.  We think she's a very brave girl.

John and I got to bed after more work at 12:30 and got up at four to catch the train to Kiev today.  We were so blessed on the train trip to get the seats we did.  It was a very comfortable trip and Lucy did quite well.
It felt like our own private suite!
View from the train

We are now settled in an apartment in downtown Kiev.  This is by far the nicest place we've stayed and we are very thankful for it.
Life with the girls is presently exhausting and we would love prayers for strength and endurance.
We will probably be here for another 10 days or so and we sure are looking forward to settling into a routine at home again.

  4. Hey, I'm thrilled to hear from you! Your train "suite" looks wonderful & I'm so happy you have a nice apmt in Kiev. I cannot imagine the host of emotions that Lucy must be feeling. It must be almost overwhelming for her. And I'm sure the language barrier must be hard. I will be praying for both of you, Beth & John, for added strength, endurance and God's peace throughout the next days. Love & hugs to the girls....I'm sure looking forward to getting to know our new girl. XXXX Mom
