First the good news: Our girl is an orphan no longer!
Now the sad news: We are not her new family :(
We found out yesterday that a family from the States, who are presently in Ukraine, are adopting our hoped-for girl. After 5 months of preparing to bring her home, we are quite devastated. There were plenty of tears around here last night. We are so glad that she will have a family, so thankful that she will no longer be alone, but sad for us. Sad that we will never actually meet her.
We are laying all of this before our loving Father and waiting on Him for direction. There are, of course, many more children needing families and that is where this all began. We just need a bit of time to process this loss.
As always, we appreciate your prayers.
Ps 147:18 (msg) "He breathes on winter - suddenly it's Spring!" New life. Color, warmth, light. Hope.
MILLIONS!
There are millions of orphans in our world. That's millions of innocent children with no one committed to loving and teaching them as they grow. Far too many children aging out of their orphanages each year and expected to fend for themselves with no support and a great deal of stigma against their orphan status. There are many children with health issues who do not receive the medical care they need to survive or thrive. We believe that God, who offers to love and adopt each of us and meet our every need, longs for us to go and do the same. There are many hurting people in this world and many ways to help and we certainly don't expect that every person will pursue adoption. We do hope that more will.
So sorry to hear Beth. We hope that is an awesome home for her; and pray that God will be with you and continue to guide you in this journey!
ReplyDeleteEver since Ben shared this news with me, I have been trying to think of words to say... but there just aren't any. Just a heavy and sad heart, and a big hug next time I see you!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry. Praying for you. I can only imagine. Sweet girl will not be forgotten.
